Looking forward to watching Madbum tonight since a local tv station here in Hawaii brings in the NBC Bay Area telecast. MLB blacksout most of the Giants games in Hawaii for some strange reason. Later on I will get a chance to watch Matt Imhoff pitch on TV here against Hawaii s Matt Cooper which should be a nice pitchers dual..For what its worth, Taylor Sparks of UCI had a good series here last week flashing extra base power and made the plays at SS showing a good arm.

Hey LG, Bumgarner put on a show for you at the plate tonight! Thanks for the comment. Imhof v Cooper will be a sweet matchup. When is that?

Sparks started cold, but has been heating up nicely at the plate for the past month or so. Didn’t know he’d moved over to SS!

Great game, Madbum was a one man show. That was a sweet swing he had! Good win considering they rested a couple of key regulars. Wasn’t happy later that Hawaii lost to Cal poly 2 to 3 on an unearned run. Cooper pitched really well and deserved a better fate.

LG

Gotta like that Cal Poly Lefty. He keeps getting better and better. Steal in the 2nd. But he won’t be there…

Imhof and Finnegan, lefties duking it out for the D1 strikeout champion. From what I’ve read lately, Finnegan looks like solid bet for top 15 at this point (Gigantes??), and I’d peg Imhof somewhere in the 25-35 range. Sounds like a perfect St Louis steal to me.

I think both of you are spot on regarding Imhoff. Gotta like him as a pitching prospect but I thought he threw harder than 88 to 91 mph that the radar gun on TV was showing. The Cardinals took a good finesse lefty pitcher last year in the late 1st round by the name of Marco Gonzales.

LG

I have read that Imhof can hit 94, but I think he mostly sits in the range you saw last night. That’s the one big thing that keeps him from being the total package. But with that size, and the fact that he’s a lefty who has dominated the college scene this year, I don’t think he makes it to the 2nd round… And Gonzalez was exactly who I was thinking of when I made the St Louis reference. I really wouldn’t be surprised to see this kid get picked right around there.

Some notable performances last night included:
Carlos Rodon: 7.2 IP, 1 ER, 3 BB, 12 K, 134 pitches – Rodon was up to 98 with his FB last night, but he got no run support in a 2-0 L to Duke.
AJ Reed: 7 IP, 4 ER, 1 BB, 10 K; 3-5, HR, 4 RBI – This guy is really something else!
Aaron Nola: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 13 K – Nola keeps the dominant outings rolling.
Chris Diaz, Miami: 6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 10 K – Diaz is 6-0 this year, & may be a nice draft sleeper.
Max Pentecost: 4-4, HR, 4 RBI – 4th homer of the year for Pentecost, who’s really on a tear at the plate this month.
And the performance of the night goes to…
Kyle Freeland: 8 IP, 4 H, 1 R (0 ER), 0 BB, 15 K – Freeland dominated Casey Gillaspie’s Wichita State squad. If you’ve been keeping up with this kid lately, he’s playing himself into top 15 consideration… and maybe more. 75 K, 4 BB in 57 IP, holy smokes!

I'd love your feedback!
